Your dedicated server is usually ready about 15 minutes after you order it. In rare cases it takes 1 to 2 hours, because real hardware is reserved and set up for you.
What you get once it is ready
Your server is delivered in rescue mode. It boots a Linux rescue system, and there is no operating system on the disk yet. You install it yourself in the Dedicated Cloud Manager. Linux is done after 5 to 20 minutes.
The rescue system stays available as your emergency exit later on, for example if the installed system no longer boots.
Common pitfalls
- Nothing after 2 hours: Check whether your payment has been credited, then open a ticket with your order number.
- Configuration no longer available: Rarely, the configuration you chose is taken elsewhere between order and provisioning, mostly with the cheapest models. In that case we refund the order and you can choose a different configuration.
- No operating system after login: That is the rescue mode, not an error. Install the system in the Dedicated Cloud Manager.
- Windows will not install: On a few systems the hardware is not compatible, usually the network card. See this article.
